Really got nothing to do so we put on Zaina’s old accessories like her cloves and cap and made fun of her. She was crying all the time because she wanted to take them off hehehheeh. Cute.

On the photo are zaina and her ate nik2.

Zaina at 9 months

Zaina Yael on my bag, she said I am always out of town for some project monitoring that is why she decided to get inside my pack and asks if she can join me with my travels. Unfortunately I have to leave her home for couple of days to do my work. It’s not easy leaving your kiddo behind.

Right now, she’s on her way to be on her feet. She can actually do two steps forward. It makes my heart pound fast when she does that.

She loves to slap you at your face especially when you are at sleep (wicked kiddo) but actually sweet because as you open your eyes after she has slapped you, you’ll see her smiling wide at you and then sleep beside you.

She loves to eat rice and fruits at the side, she’ll spit if you mix the rice and the viand. heehehe

She calls me baby. She mimics me when I call her baby and maybe she got used to it everytime she hears me even from afar she murmurs baby. Really sweet.

Prior to Cateel travel, we have been to Matanao, Davao del Sur. Validation for Minssad Project 2. and the photos below were the sceneries I saw.

and at the gym where the blaan people waited for us as their visitors with their tribal customes amazes me a bit. I have seen much of these stuffs. What impresses me is that, they have preserved the culture and thats a blessing.

What Cateel Looks Like?

Posted in Photography, Travel with tags , on May 26, 2008 by engrlouraine

I was born in Mati, Davao Oriental but i have not been to Cateel. Cateel is one of the municipalities of Davao Oriental. We traveled last May 21-23, 2008 for project monitoring and want to share to you on what other things I saw during our travel aside our infa projects.

We head Cateel via comval (Campostela Valley) That is 1-2 hours from Davao City and another 2-3 hours on a rough road from comval to cateel.

The very first spot I saw was the Cateel River. It has a greenish clear water. We were at the top ridge and like wanting to go for a dip.

They have the Aliwagwag Falls and can be seen along the highway. We had a good shot because road was detoured beneath the bridge which is on its construction phase. You can even see the bottoms of the girder on the photo. Love the beauty of nature and water gushing forth, you can barely take your breathe.

Have you eaten snails? Hehehehe. Not really that delicious but love trying new things. I have the close up of the live snails and with the farmers who caught it. Snails were caught at the floor of the streams.

Who says, Boracay is only at Aklan? hehehe.
Their mode of trasportation? Here is how it looks like?

Pitiful Scenario with a Badjao Mother And Her Child?

Posted in Story with tags on May 18, 2008 by engrlouraine

Our house is a walking distance from the grocery and so yesterday I went out to buy some items. On my way at the overpass I saw a badjao (curly and bronze-like hairs with brown complexion) and her child, pale and thumb sucking, as if the child has not taken any milk for days. I couldn’t understand what I was feeling. As a mother, I don’t want to see a child starving. Seeing the thing with the Badjao mother who doesn’t seem to care about her child just like using her child so people will show pity and spare them some coin. Grrrrr. For disappointment I hurried so I will not lengthen the agony of seeing that child but the peoples murmuring run through my eardrum

Then another Badjao mother-child at the foot of the overpass, pulling her child limbs. These people are uneducated and beg all the time because they have nothing to buy some food for themselves. They need our governments help.

When I finished my shopping and pass again the overpass the Badjaos were gone, maybe some authority picked them and maybe just some sent them away.

Last Hirit for Summer

We have been planning to climb Mt. Apo first week of june 2008 but unfortunately we will be cancelling it due to weather condition as per say, right now, Mt. Apo has zero visibility due to heavy rains brought by the recent storm. We even had the itenerary to camp at the peak, Imagine that? We will be fled off down the boulders, hehehhe. We won’t sacrifice our lives just to be at its peak. But seriously, we will arranging its schedule again. But for now we have other alternatives to replace the Mt. Apo trekking. *wide smile*

The list:
1. Enchanted river at Talisay Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
2. Maragusan (Tagbibinta Falls, Aguacan Cold Spring, Mainit Hot Spring)
3. Seagull at Buda
If there are no choices left, Camp Sabros would be a great stop with its longest zip line, flying like superman. Yeba.

Still left undecided. Buddies, where are we going? Too worst, we’ll end up malling with these choices. LOL
